THE GAME

FootGolf blends the excitement of soccer with the precision of golf. Played on a golf course using a regulation-size soccer ball, the game features shortened  holes and oversized 21-inch cups. While the format mirrors traditional golf, the gameplay is uniquely tailored for kicking rather than swinging. Fox Hills is proud to be an officially accredited course by the American FootGolf League (AFGL).

 YOUR ATTIRE

We recommend wearing a collared shirt with non-denim pants or shorts for a comfortable and respectful look on the course. Tennis shoes or indoor soccer shoes are allowed—please note that cleats are not permitted. Want to dress like the pros? Official AFGL tournament attire includes a collared shirt, shorts, knee-high argyle socks, and a classic flat cap for that signature FootGolf style.

YOUR EQUIPMENT, FOOD, & DRINKS

You're welcome to bring your own regulation-size soccer ball, or you can rent one from the Strategic Fox Clubhouse for just $5. Please note that outside food and beverages are not allowed in the clubhouse or on the course. We've got you covered—snacks and drinks are available for purchase at the Strategic FoxClubhouse to keep you fueled up during your game.

TEEING OFF

The player with the lowest score on the previous hole kicks off first. Always wait your turn before taking your shot down the fairway. You may kick the ball directly from the ground or use a tee—just be sure to stay within 2 meters behind the tee markers. (Using a tee is optional.)

FAIRWAY PLAY

While playing from the fairway, the player farthest from the hole always goes first. If another ball is in your way or gives you an unfair advantage, it must be marked and temporarily removed. Likewise, if your ball could interfere with another player’s shot, mark and lift it. If you accidentally strike another ball on the fairway, the ball that was hit must be returned to its original position.

ON THE GREEN

If your ball is within 3 meters of the hole (the "Green Zone"), you must mark it before another player takes their shot. Failure to mark your ball—and having it struck by another—results in a one-kick penalty for both players. To mark properly, place a ball marker directly behind your ball in line with the hole.  When putting, you may use your toe or instep, but not the sole of your shoe to roll the ball.

BUNKER RULES

If your ball lands in a bunker, you must kick it out cleanly—no running starts or scooping allowed. Once you've played your shot, please rake the bunker to leave it ready for the next player.

WATER HAZARDS & PENALTIES

If your ball lands in a water hazard, you have several options:

  • Play it as it lies using a hazard kick (no running start)

  • Take a one-kick penalty and replay from your previous spot

  • Drop within 2 meters of the point where the ball entered the hazard (one-kick penalty)

  • Drop anywhere along the line between where the ball crossed the hazard and the flag, going as far back as needed (one-kick penalty)

If your ball crosses the hazard and lands in the water near the green, you may drop on the hazard line where it entered.

OUT OF BOUNDS

If your ball goes out of bounds, you must return to your previous position and re-kick, adding a one-kick penalty to your score.

STOPPING & MARKING YOUR BALL

Once your ball has come to a complete stop, you're allowed to call out "STOP!" and mark it. You may not pick up your ball unless another player requests it. If your marked ball is accidentally moved, simply return it to its original spot.

SCORING & SIGNING

At the first tee, exchange scorecards with your playing partners. After each hole, confirm scores and record them clearly. At the end of the round, review the final scores and make sure both players sign the scorecard.
